​Junior Sous Chef

We are now looking for a Junior Sous Chef to join our team - someone with strong experience, excellent technical skill, and a genuine passion for our ethos of sustainability, flavour, and thoughtful hospitality.

The Role

 

As Junior Sous Chef at Apricity, you will play a key role in supporting the senior kitchen team, helping lead services, developing junior chefs, and contributing to our flavour-first, low-waste menus.
You will be expected to work with precision, consistency, and creativity, while upholding the values that define Apricity’s approach to food and people.

This is an exciting opportunity for a capable Senior Chef de Partie ready to take the next step, or an existing Junior Sous looking to grow within a progressive and supportive environment.

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Skills

  • Previous kitchen experience at Junior Sous Chef level or strong Senior Chef de Partie level is essential.

  • Solid technical abilities across all sections, with a passion for learning and refinement.

  • A calm, focused presence during service with strong organisational skills.

  • The confidence to support leading the pass and mentoring junior team members.

Mindset & Ethos

  • A genuine alignment with Apricity’s commitment to sustainability and low-impact cooking.

  • Passion for minimising waste, respecting ingredients, and maximising flavour.

  • A collaborative, respectful approach to teamwork and communication.

  • Curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to contribute ideas to menu development.

Responsibilities Include

  • Supporting Sous and Head Chefs in daily kitchen operations.

  • Maintaining Apricity’s high standards for flavour, presentation, and consistency.

  • Running sections efficiently and supporting with service leadership when required.

  • Helping train and mentor junior chefs.

  • Contributing to low-waste prep, stock rotation (FIFO), and mindful use of time, energy, and resources.

  • Upholding all hygiene, safety, and allergen procedures.

Hospitality life can be full on, so we offer mental health support via Hospitality Action, our Mental Health First aiders and through training of all members of staff. We give individual focus on career progression and create a unique plan dedicated to each person, followed up by structured reviews. We offer ongoing learning and development in house, and provide support for external training through Apprenticeship schemes and WSET. We’re rather social and organise regular meet-ups, vineyard trips and supplier talks.

'APRICIATION'

We feel it’s the right time to remove ourselves from a broken system. After the much needed shake-up our industry received from the pandemic, we have decided to pay our team a full salary, not one which fluctuates uncontrollably. This means our team knows exactly what they receive every month, making it easier to plan, budget and enjoy their lives.

 

On top of this, we have added in an 'APRICIation' discretionary amount of 12.5% to the bill, as all of the team go over and above to ensure a memorable experience for our guests. All of these funds go directly to everyone who is working in the business, from our kitchen porters, to our chefs and servers. Please note that the amount is at your discretion, so if you do not feel comfortable with this it can be left unpaid.

It’s one more step we’re taking towards hospitality being seen as the valued career that it deserves to be. We also believe in paying fair salaries, so we pay above the London Living Wage. Get in touch
